    • Providing ongoing comprehensive scholarships for education, medical, and living expenses for Nepali orphans in need in partnership with Americans for International Aid and Adoption.

    • Providing funding for the Alice Project, Sarnath and Bodhgaya, India. The Alice Project is a research project for the education of children and teachers. It is based on the integration of our inner and outer worlds, the transcendence of borders we artificially create, and the awakening and nurturing of the understanding of self. The methods used tap the most powerful potential we possess – the potential to be wise and kind.

    • Supporting the Holly Springs Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, Holly Springs, NC, for students in need to pursue higher education, February 2012.

    • Supporting the International Montessori School scholarship fund to support outreach efforts to financially needy families who wish to attend the International Montessori School. IMS is a Spanish/French immersion school and has several families who attend both the primary (pre-K and K) and the elementary school on a 50% scholarship. Most of these scholarships are unfunded, which contributes to an annual shortfall for the last 3 years when the school moved to Durham and added the elementary program. Many families are attracted to the school to maintain their linguistic and cultural heritage. Some have an experience with bilingual education from their own childhood and want this for their children. Other families have adopted children with birth parents from Latin America and are motivated to offer them access to the language and culture of their birth.
